Job Summary

The Coordinator, JGI Office of the Founder – Global is a key member of the Jane Goodall Institute USA team. This fast-paced role wears multiple hats and handles a wide-range of projects, initiatives, and tasks. This position will support the daily administrative activities of the Office of the Founder – Global (OOF – G) and Dr. Jane Goodall’s global tour on and off the road, both in person and remotely. This role also involves interacting with Jane Goodall Institutes and other stakeholders internationally. The incumbent will report to the Vice President, Outreach, (OOF-G) and Vice President and Assistant to Dr. Jane Goodall, (OOF-G)

Summary of Duties

The responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Working closely with the OOF – G team to advance all speaking and other events, coordinating with event sponsors, third parties and other JGI departments as appropriate.
  • Coordinating onsite logistics for Dr. Goodall’s U.S. tour.
  • Compiling “briefing documents” for Dr. Goodall’s (Via VPs) and key JGI staffers who are actively involved in events (on tour in the USA) for each domestic and international tour leg.
  • Providing general administrative support to OOF – G and to Dr. Goodall on her ongoing need for research on a variety of topics for the web, blogs and writing commitments as well as correspondence.
  • Accompanying Dr. Goodall and VP Founder Relations on the U.S. tour, providing general support, overseeing merchandise and book sales, and managing volunteers at events.
  • Handling tour photos, processing release forms for archives and sharing with photo archivist.
  • Posting domestic and international tour information on the website, posting blogs and working in collaboration with the Communications Department, including live online presentations by Dr. Goodall
  • Preparing and processing expense reports and appearances contracts in collaboration with VP.
  • Maintaining accurate financial reports from tour sales and providing feedback on effectiveness of systems/signage etc. as necessary.
  • Creativity in improving existing systems and creating new ones is always welcome and encouraged

Requirements

Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will maintain high standards of confidentiality, and display sound judgment, discretion, and diplomacy. The role requires a resourceful, proactive, self-starter who demonstrates the following:

  • Commitment to excellence through superior written, oral, and interpersonal (communication) skills

  • Attention to detail with strong planning, organizational, problem solving, project management, time management skills and the ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure

  • A roll-up-your-sleeves approach

  • Communications/media experience preferred with good aptitude for administrative tasks, (e.g., working on contracts).

  • High energy and flexibility are essential as is the ability to travel on an intense schedule domestically and be comfortable handling multiple pieces of heavy luggage.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

  • Alignment to the organization’s mission of “inspiring hope through action” through excellent communication and administrative support

  • Sense of humor a big plus

Education

College degree preferred.
