We seek a leader who will play a key support role in our community success and works collaboratively within all areas of the organization. Our new Controller will be a team player who gets excited about Finance’s participation in our twice-a-year all employee events, like preparing backpacks for back-to- school children, and for the Christmas holiday, helping assemble grocery bags for our members and distributing toys during the holidays.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Controller is a “hands on” position that will be responsible for the monthly accounting cycle through financial statements. The Controller will also develop other management reporting as well as project reporting. Controller will meet and interact with program directors to assure that they have current and correct information to manage their grants and contracts. Additionally, the Controller will reconcile the Trial Balance monthly including the Billed A/R, Unbilled A/R and Accounts Payable. The Controller will also be responsible for the day-to-day agency banking relationships. There will also be an expectation for process evaluation and improvement including implementing new procedures with documentation and training. The Controller will play a lead role in the agency’s annual budgeting process as well as the annual audit. Knowledge of Federal contracting is required and experience with Deltek Costpoint is highly desired. The position will include some supervision of Senior and Staff Accountants.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
General Accounting
● Supports continuous learning, evaluation, and improvement within the Finance team.
● Monthly reconciliation of the Trial Balance.
● Take a leading role in the agency’s annual budgeting process.
● Lead for the annual audit through preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and coordination of filing, and photocopying documentation.
● Subcontract monitoring including documenting site visits and reconciliation of subcontract invoices.
● Top level Federal and local contract administration including coordinating the setup, monitoring and billing of the contracts.
● Special Projects as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline.
● Strong commitment to our vision of a community united to ensure that every child and adult is free from poverty.
● Twelve or more years of substantial accounting experience.
● Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to meet deadlines.
● Ability to multi-task and shift priorities in a fast-paced environment.
● Excellent computer skills including competence using Microsoft Office– with a particular emphasis on Excel.
HIGHLY DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Bilingual – Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese – highly desirable.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The position is exempt, full-time and reports to the Deputy Director.
COMPENSATION:
The salary is commensurate with experience. Salary range is $105,000 to $112,000 annually.
