📝 FULL-TIME 🎯 MANAGER SUPERVISOR

What We’re Looking For:

Exponent Partners is seeking an experienced Controller. This position will report to the VP, Finance and Legal and oversee our Finance team. This position at Exponent Partners will provide you with the opportunity to support core business functions that are critical to the success of our company.

The ideal candidate will have experience as an accountant in a small-to-mid sized professional services organization, preferably in a fully distributed and remote environment. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, this person will streamline and oversee accounting, financial reporting, analysis and preparation of the consolidated financial statements, including schedules for tax compliance.

What Qualifications We Need:

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional accounting experience, working knowledge of professional services industry preferred;
  • Experience leading financial teams required.
  • Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis;
  • Working knowledge of federal and local tax regulations and compliance reporting;
  • Experience in managing payroll across multiple states, with a focus on streamlining accounting processes;
  • Experience managing remote teams strongly preferred;
  • Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant) preferred;
  • Experience using Quickbooks required;
  • Experience as a user of Salesforce or similar PSA tool preferred;
  • Ability to foster collaboration and successfully interact internally across departments and positions, and externally with clients and stakeholders;
  • Experience leading financial teams in $10M to $50M revenue companies preferred.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Complete analysis of financial results, accounts receivable and payable balances and issues.
  • Oversee invoicing of customers, directing and coordinating with PM and other stakeholders on the proper invoicing of clients against time-and-material, milestone based, value based, and other pricing methodologies.
  • Manage and reporting for centralized purchasing, including coding of invoices, obtaining appropriate approvals, timing of payments and classification / compliance for annual 1099 filing.
  • Manage and ensure compliance to proper time-recording process and procedures, acting as a daily and weekly check that all members of the team comply with timely and accurate time reporting
  • Manage Payroll processing, including coordination with talent and culture for benefit administration, including the oversight of 401(k) compliance, form 5500 filing, and accurate and timely distribution of forms such as W2s.
  • Manage internal reporting of financial reports to stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions, recommending enhancements and tools as appropriate to support the growth of the business.
  • Month end and Year End Close, audit, tax support and reporting, including ESOP census and other mandatory reporting
  • Oversee and manage financial compliance, including the setting up of and maintaining of state tax nexuses for employees, and managing against state and local regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee asset management for the company's real estate affairs (leases, sub-leases).
  • Respond to client accounting needs and operate as the financial point of contact for project set-ups, client invoicing, and project questions.
  • Support internal staff, such as Talent & Culture, Services, and Project team, and respond to questions and concerns by troubleshooting, advising, and solutioning.

Hiring range for this role is $95,000 - $130,000 annually - this range may be adjusted based on experience and location. Please note, our salary ranges are based on current market data. Should you feel strongly that we are not in line please reach out.
