SUMMARY:

IWPR is seeking consultant(s) (individual or organisation) with experience and expertise to provide physical and digital security training for CSOs and social movements. Their work in this project would be to compliment other experts to collaboratively develop a holistic online training curricula that supports the protection and security of Civil Society Organizations and social movements across Latin America.

The consultant will develop different courses to be delivered in real time with target groups, that takes into account real needs and risks, and will be applicable across the region. It should also be designed to be very practical for CSOs and social movements- taking into account their specific l risks, prior knowledge and should result in practical security and contingency plans that they can immediately implement.

The work includes, but is not limited to:

  • Creation of sessions according to IWPR e-learning methodology, considering M&E protocols. Online trainings should include content that can be adapted for mobile or for groups with internet connection problems. They will also take into account the security needs of each group/beneficiary, which may be different;
  • Development of training curricula, presentations and additional materials, considering free and secure online and digital resources;
  • Delivery of training sessions to a total of 6 groups of participants;
  • Individual or group follow-up sessions on safety plans and other needs for a period of 10 months approx;
  • Monthly reporting (if applicable) of safety activities/deliverables;
  • Evaluation of the effectiveness of the curriculum, and modification of material based on feedback and lessons learned;
  • Support the project team to respond to possible physical and digital security incidents of the beneficiaries;

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in relevant field;
  • At least 5 years professional experience in similar position;
  • Proven experience in facilitating workshops on physical security for the groups of CSO and social movements knowledge on the following topics:

- Assessment of the context and risks;

- Detection of vulnerabilities (personal and organizational);

- Physical security protocols for CSO and social movements;

- Holistic security;

- Scenarios and possible situations;

- Gender-sensitive security;

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Experience in online workshop design (desired);

  • Ability to incorporate gender and inclusive perspectives in the design of workshops;

  • Ability and availability to coordinate work with peer organisations and other experts in the region;

  • Ability to resolve conflicts and mediation;

  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work and adapt to various cultures;

  • Languages: Fluency in spoken and written Spanish and English;

  • Ability to work in a context with connectivity problems;

  • Willingness and flexibility for remote work.
