Drawing on three decades of experience in some of the world’s most challenging environments, we support media, civil society, democracy and governance, gender, and youth-focused projects in over 30 countries – promoting reliable information and responsible public debate and removing barriers to freedom of expression.

The Role:

IWPR is seeking a consultant who be in charge of the execution of the media business model program. The consultant will provide advice on the monetization of web platforms, sustainability, and financing models, among others.

They will accompany the beneficiaries by reviewing their progress on a weekly basis and will schedule follow-up meetings on their plans. Knowledge about audience strategies, outreach monitoring and trends interpretation is a plus.

In this role you will:

  • Implement the methodology and curricula for the monetization and business model workshops with an applied learning approach;
  • Weekly review of the progress of the business plans and provide timely feedback to the beneficiaries;
  • Schedule meetings, mentoring, and workshops with the beneficiaries to execute the program curriculum;
  • Submit a monthly report to IWPR detailing all activities carried out, systematizing progress, and identifying obstacles to program implementation;
  • The workshop should include payment processes and best practices, tools and techniques for ads, memberships, donations, crowdfunding, and subscriptions;
  • Facilitate synchronous and asynchronous workshops for digital media to design or update their own business, development, and sustainability plans;
  • Follow up on agreed work and deliverables, and offer personalised advice based on the strategic planning of the digital media beneficiaries of IWPR.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Related Bachelor's degree in journalism and / or MBA or accreditation of proven experience in the matter of at least three years;
  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience with monetization tools and models for digital media;
  • Good knowledge in monetization and audience for digital media;
  • Experience designing and facilitating workshops;
  • Extensive knowledge of the digital media environment in Latin America and the Caribbean;
  • Fully bilingual (Spanish/English). Portuguese is a plus;
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly to different audiences;
  • Cultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work and adapt to various cultures;
  • Professional ethics and journalistic ethics.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to work during the weekend, if required;
  • Willingness to use the IWPR work safety protocol;
  • Willingness to adapt to the IWPR training methodology for restrictive societies.
