Salary: Circa £38,000 pa depending on experience

The Team
By joining our Fragile and Conflict Affected Settings team, you will be working alongside a dynamic group of 15 people who are driven by a commitment to improve the lives of people living in some of the harshest conditions in the world. The challenges of working in FCAS contexts means that we need to be innovative and creative, and our FCAS Team is recognised as a global leader in providing monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) advice and services to a diverse range of clients working in conflict and crisis contexts across the world. Our expertise encompasses a broad range of thematic areas including conflict prevention; peacebuilding; security and justice; stabilisation; serious and organised crime; women, peace and security; preventing violent extremism; migration; and humanitarian assistance. We work globally with a particular focus on East and West Africa, Middle East and North Africa (MENA), South Asia and the Indo-Pacific.
Our portfolio continues to grow and we are currently providing MEL support to the UK Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF) across Africa, MENA, South Asia and the Indo-Pacific, and UK Overseas Territories; to the UK FCDO on its global support to mine action; to the UK Home Office on its global support to tackling serious and organised crime; and to USAID on its regional preventing violent extremism programming across West Africa. We are also conducting a number of evaluations of humanitarian assistance and support to refugees and internally displaced people for UNHCR, UNICEF, ICRC and Hilton Foundation.
The Role
We are recruiting for a Consultant to join the team to work on projects across the whole portfolio.
As a Consultant, you will contribute to the successful delivery and management of MEL projects across the portfolio through providing technical and project management inputs. You will also contribute to business development activities and bid writing; and, where possible, share learning through knowledge products and external conferences and events, being a part of maintaining our excellent reputation with our clients.

The Candidate
We are looking for a candidate with experience in providing technical inputs into evaluation and/or MEL projects in FCAS contexts. You will have experience in at least one of the following: conflict prevention; peacebuilding; security and justice; stabilisation; serious and organised crime; women, peace and security; and preventing violent extremism, humanitarian assistance and migration. You will also, preferably, have experience in project management as well as experience in business development and contributing to writing and winning proposals.
As an evidence advocate, you will have experience in applying a range of tools and techniques in a structured and systematic way to produce evidence-based findings
As a project manager, you will have experience in managing projects and teams and to deliver to high-quality standards; you will also have strong commercial project management skills.
As a trusted advisor, you will be skilled in building trust-based relationships with clients, as well as contributing to the development of winning proposals.
The role is based in our offices in Brighton & Hove (East Sussex), but we are open to you working anywhere in the UK. Travel to the office would be expected for key company and team events which are typically once a month. You will already have the right to live and work in the UK and be able to undertake national and international travel when conditions allow.
