Project Summary

Accion seeks a content writer to support our engagement and content efforts through content planning, writing, and social media copywriting. As we work to raise Accion’s profile in the fields of impact investing, financial inclusion, and fintech, this position will work across our team to ensure that Accion’s work is shared with our target audience in a high-quality and dynamic way. This contract is for approximately 15/hours per week for 6 months.

The ideal candidate has deep content writing skills and experience, including two or more years of experience in finance, fintech, startup ecosystem, and/or sustainable development.

Scope of Work and Deliverables

Content Creation:

The consultant will work approximately 15 hours per week on planning and editorial content as assigned, including:

• Participating in meetings with Accion’s communications team.
• Drafting blog content based on ideas and topics agreed in meetings and as assigned by Accion’s communications team, potentially including conducting interviews with subject-matter experts to use as basis for written content.
• Drafting article content based on client and partner photography and interviews.
• Researching statistics and industry trends to support written content.
• Translating and transcribing client interviews, where appropriate.
• Drafting social media posts/toolkits to promote this content on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
• Following AP Style guidelines and Accion’s style guide.
• Additional communications support as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Writing samples or portfolio are required with application

• Five years of relevant writing experience

• Strong writing and editing skills required

• International development or financial services industry background preferred

• Social media marketing experience preferred

• Proven ability to manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines

• Excellent at multi-tasking with a positive, can-do attitude.

• Deep interest in international development, financial inclusion, and/or inclusive fintech and Accion’s mission.

Project Schedule

The estimated number of hours is up to 15 hours/week and working hours are flexible. All work will be completed between June 2023 and December 31, 2023.
