Position Overview
A Peer/Community Support Specialist has experience in the mental health system or child-welfare system to provide outreach, support and advocacy to youth and families served
Caseloads will be 4-6 cases per week, averaging 12-20 total hours of face to face contact for the staff per week based on the families’ needs.
Increase collaboration with families and professionals
Participate in collaboration with the therapist and case manager to identify treatment goals for each youth and family
Provide supportive services to families to promote success with families by providing safe environments for their children, while also providing for heir basic needs and overall welfare
Works with families in their homes and communities, linking them with resources and partnering alongside them to teach basic skills needed to care for their child based on their age and needs
Support for the child and his/her family
Additional Information
Schedule is flexible and non-traditional; based around the availability of youth and families served.
Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, a personal vehicle to use for work purposes and auto insurance.
Community Based staff will be reimbursed for applicable mileage
Requirements
Maintain flexible schedule that is convenient for youth and families, which often results in working nontraditional hours
Must have or be eligible for MS DMH Community Support Specialist Certification
Must have experience in the mental health system or child-welfare system to provide outreach, support and advocacy to youth served
At least six months experience working with intensive in-home services is strongly preferred
Lived Experience within the Child Welfare system will also be considered
Car insurance coverage requirements of 300,000 bodily; 100,000; 50,000 property
COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement
As of October 15, 2021, Youth Villages has required the COVID-19 vaccine for all employees, excluding those with an approved medical or religious exemption, as a condition of employment to help ensure the safety of all employees and youth and families served
