The Department**
Mercy Corps has been operating in Venezuela since 2018 implementing humanitarian and development programs, with special emphasis on water, sanitation and hygiene, health, protection, food security, and nutrition, and plays a key role in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of information relevant to the humanitarian community in the country. The team is expanding its programs and its team at the country level and is therefore hiring a Community Promoter to assist with all WASH-related activities.
Mercy Corps Venezuela’s Program Team is responsible for the entire life cycle of programs implemented in the country. The team also supports the development of new business opportunities, as well as the in-country grant management and reporting in alignment with donor regulations and Mercy Corps policies.
The Position
The Community Promoter carry out collection and follow-up of program participants in the municipalities where Mercy Corps operates as well as facilitating workshops and spaces to raise awareness of the key themes of the initiatives. In each municipality, the liaison has to maintain a fixed schedule in a public space where participants can approach to ask for support and make community tours to identify the needs of the locality on an ongoing basis. The promoters represent Mercy Corps on a daily basis to participants, communities, and other entities working in the areas, including government agencies.

Mercy Corps is looking for professionals with solid knowledge in their area, and with common sense and experience to solve atypical situations presented in the field. Likewise, Mercy Corps seeks organized, disciplined, purposeful and efficient people, oriented towards planning and meeting objectives. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. It is important to have sufficient maturity to accept the criticism and demands of the job, as well as to recognize their weaknesses and rely on the work team. It must have empathy and commitment to the eradication of those unfair conditions to which the most vulnerable people are subjected. Availability to travel and support activities in other areas of the country, if necessary.
Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions
The position is based in Sucre, Venezuela and will require occasional travel to support country programs, which may include travel to insecure locations where freedom of movement is limited and areas where amenities are limited.
