Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non-governmental organization. We work with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP). We work to reduce violence, protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath, and help transform the world’s response to conflict situations.
Overview:
NP is initiating a project in San Diego CA through a federal violence reduction grant. The candidate for this position must be living in the San Diego area and have knowledge of other violence prevention initiatives in the region.
Job Summary:
Nonviolent Peaceforce is seeking a Community Outreach and Partnerships Coordinator to initiate its newest program in San Diego, CA. The coordinator will be responsible for the implementation of programming designed to increase safety of local residents and civilians using unarmed and community-based approaches. This entails developing strong relationships with community members and organizers committed to reimaging public safety that does not use force or threat of force. The position is part of the program staff of NPUS and must work collaboratively with program staff in other parts of the country and globally.
Key Responsibilities**:**
Establish and maintain partnerships with local community groups, governmental organizations, and NGOs.
Organize and attend community events to raise awareness about hate crimes, particularly against Asian Americans and the LGBTQ+ communities.
Promote the methods of unarmed civilian protection as a means of increasing safety and deterring violence.
Work closely with local stakeholders, grantee partners and duty bearers to establish relationships that benefit the community.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions to educate the public on Unarmed Civilian Protection.
Implement deliverables of the DOJ Stop the Hate grant.
