Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary objective of the CEC is to raise funds toward Feeding South Florida’s (FSF) operating budget by overseeing Food + Fund Drives, FSF events, third party events, the Youth Ambassador Program, and other community engagement initiatives. The CEC is responsible for the creation, planning, and expansion of annual events, quarterly events, monthly networking opportunities, third-party events, and external sort and community service days. All events and initiatives contain a fundraising component and will promote Feeding South Florida’s mission, activities, programs, and other services.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create, oversee, and execute all FSF and third-party special events, ensuring budgets, fundraising and attendance goals are met.

  • Create, develop, support, retain, and recognize volunteer committees for all special events and initiatives.

  • Devise a holistic approach to the events calendar in conjunction with the overall marketing calendar and agenda for the organization, taking the seasons and other community events into consideration.

  • Facilitate and expand the Youth Ambassador Program.

  • Initiate, facilitate and support poverty simulations and Market Mania events.

  • Assist with the development and distribution of event information or FSF collateral material through on-site presentations, internet, telephone, or by mail.

  • Assist with cause related marketing campaigns and special promotions with corporate partners.

  • Schedule potential donor meetings, give group presentations and/or tours for corporations, service organizations, volunteer groups, and others on behalf of Feeding South Florida.

  • Attend check presentations, grand openings, and other community events.

  • Submit weekly reports, monthly dashboard numbers and track other key metrics for grants, stewardship reports and other information as necessary.

  • Assist leadership with other duties as assigned.

Job requirements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience in events and volunteer management, with a proven track record of fundraising success.

  • Creativity, innovative vision, and affinity for out-of-the-box thinking

  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written – with proper use of grammar and spelling.

  • Flexibility and the ability to work as a member of a team on several projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining professional and consistently meets deadlines.

  • Efficient time management and innovative problem-solving skills.

  • Interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and respect for cultural diversity.

  • Organized and detail-oriented with the skills required to handle all the items associated with planning, organizing, and implementing events and maintaining records.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with community leaders, donors, volunteers, media representatives and other staff.

  • Ability to make presentations in a professional manner.

  • Deep commitment to the mission of Feeding South Florida.

  • Proficiency with computer skills and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Must maintain a valid Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Hours of Operation: Although organization hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., this position may work closer to 50 hours per week, especially during peak times such as holiday seasons, growing seasons and disaster response. After hours business work is required occasionally throughout the year. This position does work occasional nights and weekends.
  • Environment: This position works in a typical office setting. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending; listening, talking and/or visual concentration; writing and/or computer use. Involves activities in both office and warehouse environments with exposure to the climate and South Florida weather.
  • Travel: Frequent travel between quad-county areas using personal vehicle is required. Occasional same day, out of town travel for meeting, conferences and special events using personal vehicle and/or public transportation is required. Occasional overnight, out of town travel for meetings and conferences using public transportation is required.
  • OSHA Standards: Lifting requirements are 50lbs and when lifting loads heavier than 50lbs, use two or more people to lift the load. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
