Third Generation Environmentalism is hiring a
COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER, POWERING PASTCOAL ALLIANCE, LONDON, BRUSSLES OR BERLIN
The advertised position is with the Powering Past Coal Alliance (PPCA) Secretariat, hosted by E3G and will be based in one of the E3G offices in London, Brussels or Berlin. The successful candidate will use their digital skills to help create more political, business and media support for accelerating the global transition from coal to clean energy.
Background
The Powering Past Coal Alliance (PPCA) is a global coalition of national and sub-national governments, businesses and organisations working to advance the transition away from unabated coal power generation. Since its creation in 2017, the PPCA has grown to over 165 members and become a driving force behind global efforts to phase out coal power. The growing number of members taking ambitious action help us demonstrate that the shift is necessary, inevitable and beneficial, not only for the climate, but also for long-term prosperity and security.
In our communications work, we build momentum for a faster transition away from coal by encouraging more governments and business to make ambitious commitments, showcasing their achievements, as well as giving them a platform to call for more action from others. We also seek to influence the media debate on climate and energy in countries heavily reliant on coal, as well as share knowledge and expertise of our members and partners on shifting private finance, transitioning grids and utilities, and managing a just transition of workers and communities.
Your position will be overseen by the PPCA Communications Manager. You will be part of a highly dynamic, impact-driven international team of the PPCA Secretariat. You will also have an opportunity to closely collaborate with the Alliance’s co-chairs, the governments of Canada and the United Kingdom, the think tank E3G, who hosts the Secretariat and provides expert analysis, advice, and administration, as well as the vast network of the Alliance’s members and partners.
