Our digital platform delivers scalable and verifiable sexual reproductive health services for young people in 5 main markets in Sub Saharan Africa - Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, South Africa and Burkina Faso. We work together with local communities and use nudges like reminders, discounts, and reward points to encourage our users to access and use sexual and reproductive health services. **This position, based in London, UK, specifically offers a hybrid work arrangement, and we are actively seeking applicants from this area.**Purpose of the Role:
Join Tiko as a Communications Manager and be part of a collaborative, supportive team. In this London-based role, you'll use your expertise in marketing and corporate communications to craft meaningful content that resonates with our diverse audience. Your work will play a critical role in amplifying Tiko’s mission and values, as you create messages that support our global New Business Development team and connect with key stakeholders. This role is not just about communications; it's about making a positive impact in the world, working with a variety of partners from governments to philanthropic organizations, all committed to Corporate Social Responsibility.

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Communications Strategy: You will have responsibility for leading all of Tiko's corporate communications, aligning them with our strategic and fundraising goals. You'll be pivotal in ensuring our messaging across branding, social media, and print/digital platforms hits the mark and adapts to evolving landscapes.
  • Implementation, Brand Management, and Writing: Lead the operational execution of our communications plan, crafting a range of external communication assets. Your role is crucial in shaping Tiko's image, enhancing brand awareness, and reputation. You'll also create captivating content across various mediums, catering to audiences both familiar and new to sexual and reproductive health and rights.
  • Research: Stay ahead of the curve by researching industry trends and developing fresh, engaging articles. You'll be responsible for producing press releases, social media content, and website updates, all while keeping in touch with Tiko's ongoing projects and broader current affairs.
  • Reputational Risk Management: Manage Tiko's reputational risk, developing crisis management strategies and advising the executive team in critical situations. Your role includes acting as the spokesperson during crisis management scenarios if needed.
  • Collaboration Across Communications Functions: Work closely with marketing, recruitment, and other departments to ensure a consistent and strategic approach to Tiko's communications. You'll be the go-to expert for corporate communication, managing our social media presence and producing various types of content.
  • Capacity Building and Support: Lead and nurture your team and others across Tiko globally. Focus on enhancing writing and presentation skills across the organization, offering mentorship and support where necessary. Your role includes continuing personal development to stay informed about global geopolitical changes.
  • Engagement in Other Projects: Be proactive in participating and assisting with additional projects, showcasing versatility and teamwork.

About you
You are deeply informed and passionate about Tiko's work in sexual and reproductive health and rights, embodying the values we stand for. With strong communication and leadership skills, you excel in collaborating effectively across diverse teams. Skilled in articulating complex issues to varied audiences, you blend strategic thinking with efficient operational execution. Self-driven and independent, you manage responsibilities with minimal supervision, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and organizational excellence.

Requeriments:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Bring at least 5 years of proven experience in the communications field, backed by a strong portfolio that showcases your impactful work.
  • Have experience managing public relations agencies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Possess knowledge and experience in sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), understanding its complexities and importance.
  • Excel in creating engaging narratives for diverse audiences, skillfully aligning with the objectives and ethos of key stakeholders in both print and digital realms.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using design tools for print and online mediums, video editing software, and other content creation applications.
  • Show experience in managing corporate social media platforms (such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter), including aspects of risk management.
  • Possess a deep understanding of social media platforms and their respective best practices for effective communication.
  • Have strong experience in storytelling, crucial for boosting donor engagement and fostering partnerships.
  • Exhibit exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to be both assertive and diplomatic.
  • You are currently based in London, UK.

The Rewards

At Tiko we believe in being open, also when it comes to salaries. The annual salary bracket for this position is €45 000 - €75 000 gross. We will offer you a salary in this bracket depending on your level of experience and how it relates to your future colleagues.
