Communications Intern, PACE

**This is a hybrid internship based in the WRI Europe office in the Hague. You will need to be registered at a Dutch university or college for the full duration of the internship to be eligible.

About the program:**

PACE is the global collaboration platform for key public and private decision makers to share a vision, best practices, and scale the circular economy together.

Nearly 100 leaders from governments, companies and civil society, across continents and sectors, have joined PACE’s Leadership Group to help accelerate the transition to a circular economy globally.

Our vision is a global, circular economic system that enables human and environmental well-being. Our mission is to catalyze global leadership from business, government, and civil society to accelerate the transition from a linear to a circular economy that will improve human and environmental well-being for current and future generations. Our goal is to help double global circularity in the next 10 years, working towards climate-neutral and inclusive economies.

PACE was created in 2018 by the World Economic Forum and is now hosted by the World Resources Institute, facilitated by a full-time team in The Hague, Netherlands.

Internship Highlight:

This internship is an opportunity to develop a broad range of communication skills, particularly in creating engaging content and supporting the management of our website, email marketing, events, social media and more. It is ideal for anyone passionate about sustainability to learn about the circular economy and how it can help address global challenges, such as the climate crisis, working with multiple stakeholders and the possibility of working on high-level events, such as COP. You will have access to WRI and PACE resources and training, with weekly mentoring and regular connection to WRI and PACE interns.

What you will do:

In this role, you will create and plan content for PACE’s core communications channels (website, social media, events, newsletters) with the option to grow and develop these. You will also support communications which deliver PACE’s Strategy.

Your internship supervisor will be Heather Millen, PACE Communications Lead_._

Provide communications support (80%)

  • Contribute to the ongoing management, content creation and analysis for PACE social media channels
  • Write or proof-read PACE website updates and upload them via Drupal Content Management System
  • Manage email marketing communications, writing content and managing contact lists
  • Potentially contribute to graphic design and/or video editing projects, depending on skills and interests
  • Support other external communication tasks as needed

Provide outreach and operational support (20%)

  • Assist with speech writing and developing PowerPoint presentations
  • Support logistical preparations for events, conferences and workshops, including meeting management
  • Support other PACE Secretariat tasks as needed

What you will need:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Sustainability, or a related field (graduate program preferred)
  • Experience writing articles, blog posts, reports, or news items
  • Experience using and creating content for platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter or YouTube desirable
  • Experience updating content on websites, creating newsletters, designing communication materials (social media graphics for example), video editing, creating podcasts, or in online paid promotions desirable
  • Interns at WRI Europe must be registered in a study program with a Dutch college or university for the full duration of the internship
  • You are proficient in spoken and written English.

Conditions of the internship:

  • This is a 6-month internship with a start date of 13 March 2022
  • This internship will be based at the WRI Europe office in the Hague with some flexibility to work from home
  • This internship offers a reimbursement of 350 euros per month based on full-time working hours
  • Interns can request a laptop if they require one.
