COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT, OPS COMMS, LONDON
E3G is looking for a collaborative and creative individual to join our Communications team as a Communications Assistant. This role will support the Communications Team to create and deliver E3G’s strategic communications programme of activities and support E3G’s reputation with its various audiences and stakeholders.

E3G is consistently ranked as one of the top ten most influential environmental think tanks in the world and has recently undergone an exciting internal transformation, significantly growing in size and capabilities in recent years. In this context, we are now looking to add to our growing Communications team with the Communications Assistant role that will provide a key foundational support to all our activities.
The Communications Assistant will sit in E3G’s Communications team and report to the Director of Communications. They will have day to day working relationship with all members of the team and direct line management for activities from within the team. The role will be uniquely central to the day-to-day running of the Comms Team, taking a lead on planning and scheduling, supporting Comms campaigns with project management and assisting with administration of media lists, stakeholder mapping and reporting. It will also be an opportunity for the person in role to build comprehensive editorial and creative skills across all media supporting posting and publishing on all channels and platforms and creating content for social media.
Key Responsibilities
As a member of the Communications team, reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Assistant will be directly involved in supporting the strategy and delivery of E3G’s strategic communications activities. You will:
- Work collaboratively across teams, and with external stakeholders, to reflect the comms priorities of the whole organisation in your work and seeking to build a solid understanding of the work of all E3G teams.
- Lead the planning and scheduling of communications activities engaging with teams across E3G to ensure smooth operational and effective delivery of a communications programme that adds value to E3G.
- Lead on the collation and analysis of communications analytics and reporting to help inform the continuous development of E3G’s communications, and helping to create regular, clear updates on strategic and operational priorities for E3G’s leadership.
- Support with the delivery of communications output including writing, creating and researching images, posting and publishing on all channels. There is the opportunity to grow communications and editorial skills across all media and build foundational skills to support personal and professional development.
- Be the point person for the Comms Team, helping to prioritise incoming demands, and helping to build the reputation of Comms as a value-adding team. Support the team by organising activities, making calls, and assisting with events and other activities as arise.
Person Description
- You will be a fast learner, willing to work across teams and take on a variety of projects. You will be an adaptable and collaborative individual, with a keen interest in communications and how it supports climate change strategy – noting that this is first and foremost a communications role.
- You must be familiar with the suite of Microsoft programmes essential for E3G’s internal comms, including Outlook (Excel, Powerpoint, Word), Teams, and Sharepoint (or working with shared document spaces such as One Drive or Google Drive).
- You will have solid experience of writing and creating content, and ideally of working with websites and social media. We are interested in the opportunity of candidates bringing fresh perspectives to our team to help us to reach wider audiences and refresh our thinking.
- You will be organised and methodical and able to work flexibly across multiple activities and balance a broad portfolio of activities with attention to detail on specific projects.
- The Communications Assistant will be based in E3G’s office in London with hybrid working available on a flexible basis as agreed with the team.
Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will:
- Have at least 1-2 years relevant professional experience.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills. English is essential, other languages would be an advantage.
- Be a fast learner, and an adaptable and creative team player.
- Be adept at using Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and Sharepoint, being able to edit and produce original and innovative content.
- Skills in relevant software such as Wordpress, Canva, Campaign Monitor, Mailchimp, and other publishing, media management and/or image editing tools will be desirable and but will be developed through this role.
- Experience and skills in website and social media analytics and SEO optimisation, including familiarity with Google Analytics and other tracking tools would be an advantage.
- Digital communications skills, including image creation, web and social media publication, SEO, video and audio editing, would be an advantage.

E3G is unable to provide any relocation assistance to candidates who would need to move in order to take up this position. Occasional international travel may be required from time to time. E3G will require candidates to demonstrate that they have the right to live and work in the jurisdiction in which E3G employs them.
