Overview
The Rights and Dignity Project is implemented by Counterpart International (CPI) in partnership with Partners El Salvador (PES). The main goal of the Project is to help strengthen governmental and non-governmental human rights protection systems, resulting in an increasingly tolerant, just, and equitable El Salvador.
Counterpart International (CPI) is currently seeking a Communications Assistant (CA) to carry out activities related to the Communications Area. Additionally, this position is expected to work closely with the Communications Officer and Communications Specialist, and will report directly to the Communications Specialist. The CA will provide administrative and technical support to the communications team and will be responsible for supporting strategies that increase the Human Rights and Dignity Project visibility. As well, the CA will support the creation and production of digital products, and logistics of events. This is a full time position based in San Salvador, El Salvador. . This is a locally-based position; Salvadoran citizens are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Communications Specialist, the incumbent is expected to contribute to:
- Assist in implementing the Project’s communications strategies.
- Offer administrative support to the Communications team, especially in the implementation of the Project’s Advocacy Fund and other Project events or activities.
- Provide support to the communications team in designing and reviewing communications materials for a range of audiences.
- Support Project staff with PowerPoint designs and critical eye for data visualization.
- Offer administrative support to the communications team in tracking products and materials according to deadlines.
- Support the communications team in creating, editing, and posting creative content on Project’s approved media channels (email, LinkedIn, MailChimp etc.).
- Support the communications team in creating content for newsletters and other direct communication.
- Support the communications team in maintaining a collection of photos and videos.
- Organize the logistics for the implementation of Project campaigns and events.
- Manage or assist in conducting interviews and media cover of Project events.
- Manage or assist with the preparation and logistics of events.
- Track projects and media exposure as well as update databases and media lists.
- Participate in meetings, take notes, and draft memos.
- Other activities as assigned by the Communications Specialist
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related fields.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills in English.
- Writing and/or editing experience for online and/or print publications.
- Knowledge of organizing campaigns/events.
- Reliability and confidentiality around sensitive information
- Multi-media and social media skills.
- Creative open-minded team player with strong initiative and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work within a multi-cultural and diverse team.
- At least 1 year of experience working as a communications professional for a non-profit, for-profit, or related professional experience.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator, Audition, Photoshoop).
- Use of social media dashboards/management tools (Hootsuit, etc.).
- Strong organization skills.
- Creative problem-solver with an eye for good design.
- Detail oriented, self- motivated and comfortable working in a collaborative team environment.
- Excellence in all MS Office Applications.
