Friends of the Earth (FOE) is a national not for profit environmental organization that strives for a healthier and more just world. We push for the reforms that are needed. It’s an approach that has worked for five decades to produce important victories that help protect our planet and its people. We’re part of Friends of the Earth International, a federation of groups working in more than 70 countries on today’s most urgent environmental and social issues.
What We Look For: Are you passionate about ensuring federal environmental policy and climate incentives move us towards a justice-based sustainable energy sector? Are you eager to support campaigns that tackle false solutions, like dirty biofuels and carbon capture utilization and sequestration, and prevent polluters from co-opting climate funding? Do you enjoy working with partner coalitions, conducting research to support public policy campaigns, and drafting public outreach materials?
If so, then this Climate Intern position is for you. This is a paid, part-time internship. The Climate Intern must be able to commit to 15-20 hours per week; (specific hours in the range of 15-20 hours per week to be negotiated) at the hourly rate of $17.00. The length of the internship is 6 months.
Who You Are:
Strong Policy Advocate: Help conduct outreach and engage in general campaign support and research. Support lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill, including scheduling and attending meetings, taking notes, and ensuring follow-up. Help mobilize Friends of the Earth members to express support for our policy priorities.
Effective Communicator: Assist with the organization’s advocacy efforts, including producing persuasive and accurate materials, as well as scheduling and participating in educational meetings.
Collaborative Team Member: Build trust and effectively collaborate with colleagues and coalition partners to advance goals and priorities.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well within coalitions.
An effective communicator who can assist with the organization’s advocacy efforts, including producing persuasive and accurate materials, as well as scheduling and participating in educational meetings.
