About the role

Our Climate Finance Program is seeking talented and skilled individuals to support our research teams in developing high-quality and actionable research and policy analysis.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with a world-recognized team on cutting edge analytical projects that support policy frameworks and investments to drive the transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient world. Some of our most well-known projects include the  Global Landscape of Climate Finance, which is the most comprehensive inventory of global climate change investment available and the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance whose financial instruments have attracted billions of dollars to drive low-carbon and climate-resilient growth in developing countries.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Senior Analysts on designing, managing, and implementing complex research assignments.
  • Efficiently collect and analyze cross-disciplinary data for actionable insights.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis of national and international climate finance mechanisms and energy policies.
  • Assist in producing high-quality reports, executive summaries, blogs, and presentations.

Qualifications We're Looking For:

  • Passion for the environment and commitment to our mission.
  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in economics, finance, or public policy.
  • Working knowledge of domestic and international climate policy issues.
  • Proactive, organized, and effective time manager.
  • Initiative-taker who values autonomy who seeks guidance as needed.
  • Precise, detail-oriented approach to research and data analysis.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce and edit high-quality products.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, especially Excel, and quick to grasp new software.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Adaptable and professional at all times with an enthusiasm for working as part of a team, and an ability to interact with a diverse array of people.

Employee Benefits

  • Location requirements: Hybrid, with offices in San Francisco and Washington DC
  • Work authorization requirements: US Citizens, open to students with F-1 Visa
  • Compensation: $22 per hour
  • Hours per week: 40 hours per week across Monday to Friday
  • Start Date: Late May / Early June 2024
  • Contract duration: 3 months (though we offer some flexibility both in length and start dates.
