Our knowledge and expertise are grouped around four Practice areas including Inclusive Growth and Climate Change, Fragile and Conflict-affected Settings (FCAS), Human Development, and Governance and Institutional Strengthening.

In all of our work, our focus is on providing the insight and ideas to ensure that the resources invested in international development have the greatest possible beneficial impact on people and the planet.

We are a values-based organisation. Our values include making a difference, delivering technical excellence and innovation, contributing through collaboration and learning, providing opportunities for personal development to our staff, promoting inclusion and diversity, taking action to improve our impact the environment, and shared rewards for the people we work with. We endeavour to integrate these into all aspects of our work.

This role sits with our Inclusive Growth and Climate Change practice, which recognises that the threats posed by climate change are global and have the potential to reverse hard-fought development gains. We believe the transformative change needed to address these threats must be based on a robust understanding of what works and why. The evaluation and learning work we do to understand climate change, natural resources and resilience helps our partners to use evidence-based findings to make decisions which lead to informed investments and actionable change towards a low carbon, climate-resilient future.

The role

You will be joining a team who are passionate about having a positive impact on people and the planet through the support we provide clients to use evidence. Your role will involve the technical delivery of our monitoring, evaluation and learning projects and supporting business development activities to continue to grow our portfolio.

You will have the opportunity to work across the climate and nature portfolio relevant to your experience and interests. You will contribute to the successful delivery and management of projects, build and own relationships with key client stakeholders, contribute to business development activities, share learning through knowledge products and, where possible, external conferences and events, and be a part of maintaining our excellent reputation with our external teams and clients. The core technical strengths of all our consultants are focused around four key areas:

You will have demonstrated technical expertise in designing MEL systems, tools and processes for a range of clients, and designing and delivering evaluations using a range of approaches and methodologies. You have used these methods to present evidence and analysis to clients – both written and verbally – in a clear, distilled and accessible way, facilitating engagement and use.

  • As a change agent you will have demonstrated facilitation and communication skills and experience, conveying ideas to clients and teams in a clear and focused style, flexing your technique to suit the environment, and in a way that generates buy-in and supports learning.

  • As a project manager you will have a track record in managing the delivery of complex projects, setting clear direction, managing risk and ensuring delivery of high quality outputs that meet commercial targets and provide value for money.

  • As a trusted advisor you will have a strong understanding of how our clients work, and demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with clients that generate repeat work. You will also have experience in complex bid processes, including building and managing large teams and consortia.
