Climate Change consultant
We are looking for a dynamic and ambitious Consultant to join Itad’s Inclusive Growth and Climate Change practice. The role is focused on delivering and supporting the growth of our climate and nature portfolio, including the technical delivery of our monitoring, evaluation and learning projects and supporting business development activities.
Location: Brighton, hybrid You don’t need to be in the office every day, travel to the office would be expected for key company and team events which are typically once a month.
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time 37.5 per week
Salary: Circa £40,000 depending on experience

The evaluation and learning work we do to understand climate change, natural resources and resilience helps our partners to use evidence-based findings to make decisions which lead to informed investments and actionable change towards a low carbon, climate-resilient future.
The role
You will be joining a team who are passionate about having a positive impact on people and the planet through the support we provide clients to use evidence. Your role will involve the technical delivery of our monitoring, evaluation and learning projects and supporting business development activities to continue to grow our portfolio.
You will have the opportunity to work across the climate and nature portfolio relevant to your experience and interests. You will contribute to the successful delivery and management of projects, build and own relationships with key client stakeholders, contribute to business development activities, share learning through knowledge products and, where possible, external conferences and events, and be a part of maintaining our excellent reputation with our external teams and clients. The core technical strengths of all our consultants are focused around four key areas:
**Evidence Advocate:**using robust evidence to support clients and shape global debates.
Change Agent: guiding clients in reflecting, learning and managing change.
Project Manager: building high performing project teams that deliver quality and commercial targets.
Trusted Advisor: building and shaping long term relationships with clients and partners that add value and deliver commercial success.
As an evidence advocate you will be applying your knowledge and experience of MEL to lead and advise others in the design and implementation of complex MEL projects and workstreams. You will have demonstrated technical expertise in designing MEL systems, tools and processes for a range of clients, and designing and delivering evaluations using a range of approaches and methodologies. You have used these methods to present evidence and analysis to clients – both written and verbally – in a clear, distilled and accessible way, facilitating engagement and use.
As a change agent you will have demonstrated facilitation and communication skills and experience, conveying ideas to clients and teams in a clear and focused style, flexing your technique to suit the environment, and in a way that generates buy-in and supports learning.
As a project manager you will have a track record in managing the delivery of complex projects, setting clear direction, managing risk and ensuring delivery of high quality outputs that meet commercial targets and provide value for money.
As a trusted advisor you will have a strong understanding of how our clients work, and demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with clients that generate repeat work. You will also have experience in complex bid processes, including building and managing large teams and consortia.
The role is based in our offices in Brighton (East Sussex), but we are open to you working anywhere in the UK. Travel to the office would be expected for key company and team events. You will already have the right to live and work in the UK and be able to undertake national and international travel when conditions allow.
The candidate
You will have experience within monitoring, evaluation and learning within at least one relevant thematic area covered by the practice. This could be accompanied with specific expertise in one or more of the following areas: climate change resilience, adaptation mitigation/ renewable energy, nature-based solutions, oceans/ marine, climate finance or other relevant expertise.
Experience of working in a consultancy environment or equivalent would be desirable, with experience across the full lifecycle from bidding to delivery. You will play an active role in bidding work and ideally have a personal network and understanding of the climate change funding architecture to support this.
