Your opportunity
Dillon’s Communities and Environment technical group is looking for a Civil Engineering Technologist to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.
You will be able to work on functional and detailed design of various civil, waste management and municipal infrastructure projects including roads, sewers, watermains and drainage works and solid waste management facilities, including landfills, organic processing facilities and transfer stations.
At Dillon, we operate as one team across 23 offices nationwide. This current position is available at Dillon’s Halifax or Sydney, Nova Scotia offices .
Responsibilities
What your day will look like
Design and Project Coordination
- Assist project managers and engineers in the functional and detailed design (CADD design) in any of the following technical areas:
- civil and municipal infrastructure related to water supply, sewers, roads, land development, site servicing and drainage;
- solid waste projects related to solid waste facility design, facility evaluation, facility operations, landfill gas management systems, leachate management and treatment systems..
- Prepare documents including construction drawings, contract specifications, , calculations and engineer’s estimates.
- Assist project managers and liaise with engineers, environmental scientists and others on a variety of multidisciplinary design teams (including project engineers, planners, biologists, technologists, etc.)
- Business travel upon request

Qualifications
What you will need to succeed
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology
- Licensed to practice as a CET or PTech in Nova Scotia or eligible to be licensed within six months (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in civil and/or solid waste management for public and/or private clients
Experience
- Experience working with multidisciplinary team members on civil infrastructure or solid waste facility design, permitting and construction.
- Demonstrated abilities in the coordination of project teams, including engineers, planners and environmental scientists.
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software
- Understanding of project design and implementation activities including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration
- Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills, including the ability work in a team environment
