Civil Engineering Technologist

Dillon’s Communities and Environment technical group is looking for a Civil Engineer in Training or Civil Engineering Technologist to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

At Dillon, we operate as one team. This position is available in Corner Brook, NL.

Responsibilities

Construction Observation, Project Coordination & Design (100%)

  • Construction observation and contract administration
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, scientists, and technical and administrative support staff
  • Assist with functional and detailed design (CADD design) of transportation and municipal infrastructure related to water supply, sewers, roads, land development site servicing, drainage and waste management

Qualifications

  • A university degree in civil engineering or diploma in civil engineering technology
  • 2 - 5 year's work experience. Prior consulting engineering and/or municipal experience would be considered an asset
  • Registered as an Engineer in Training in Newfoundland & Labrador with PEGNL, or
  • Registered as a Civil Engineering Technologist in Newfoundland & Labrador (AETTNL Certified or Provisional membership), or eligible for registration within six months

Experience

  • Proficient conducting construction observations / inspections for municipal infrastructure projects, reporting on construction activities, and measuring and recording field quantities.
  • Comfortable collaborating with contractors and stakeholders for successful delivery of projects.
  • Knowledge of local specifications, quality assurance testing requirements, regulatory approval requirements and a general understanding of construction logistics.
  • Knowledge of the functional and detailed design of municipal infrastructure including roads, sewers, water mains and drainage works
  • Basic understanding of project design and implementation activities including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration
  • Proficient in the use of current AutoCAD and Civil 3D software
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills, including the ability work in a team environment
  • Experience with surveying equipment including GPS, total stations, rod and level considered an asset
