Child Care Associate

About the Job:

The Child Care Associate assists by providing guidance and a safe and structured environment for children while their parent attends Parent Support Group or other groups. This position works with volunteers during groups in the child care setting in coordination with other staff. This position supports the agency’s vision, philosophy and core values in the delivery of services to parents and their children. The Child Care Associate will champion all New Moms values including our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, in both strategic planning and performance. This role works 0-19 hours per week and will work in both our Austin and Oak Park locations.

Schedule: Daytime hours on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday between 9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. are required

Starting Hourly Rate: $18.30/hour

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists with a broad range of childcare related services, including implementing lesson plans, parent child interactions, and children’s activities
  • Supports and engages with volunteers in the childcare setting
  • Works collaboratively with other staff to ensure a continuum of service delivery
  • Provides crisis intervention as needed with the goal of ensuring safety while collaborating with the participants program coach, supervisor and/or other appropriate supports
  • Upholds the New Moms’ Executive Skills Coaching approach which is grounded in racial equity
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Experience:

  • Experience working with children ages 0-5 preferred

Other requirements:

  • Access to a car and/or ability to use public transportation
  • Must be flexible as schedule varies from week to week and could include daytime and evening hours
