Position Summary
The Chief of Party (COP) will provide strategic leadership and management for MEDA’s Haiti IJI project, a multi-million-dollar, multi-year USAID-funded initiative aimed at fostering inclusive economic growth and sustainable development. The COP will oversee all aspects of program implementation, ensuring alignment with USAID objectives, MEDA’s mission, and local priorities. This includes driving program design, work planning, and execution while managing compliance with donor regulations and organizational policies. The COP will conduct market systems analyses, develop strategies for value chain enhancement, and facilitate collaboration among diverse stakeholders to promote systemic change and improve market inclusivity.
Reporting to MEDA’s Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, the COP will act as the primary liaison with USAID, the Government of Haiti, and other partners, representing the program in local and international forums. They will build capacity among staff and partners, monitor project performance, and ensure that lessons learned inform ongoing activities. Additionally, the COP will manage financial, risk, and security aspects of the project, ensuring sound resource allocation and mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent in business, finance, international development, or a related field.
At least 10 years of progressively senior management experience in international development, including 5+ years on projects of similar size and scope, ideally USAID-funded.
Experience as a Chief of Party or Deputy Chief of Party on USAID projects is highly preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of USAID rules and regulations; familiarity with other large donor programs is a plus.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with governments, donors, and local partners.
Experience working with investors and mechanisms to increase commercial investment in targeted sectors.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience building capacity among diverse teams.
Fluency in English and excellent written and oral communication skills; French fluency is required, and Haitian Creole is highly preferred.
Successful candidate should have demonstrable experience in market systems development, value chain development of market facilitation for trade. Experience in market systems work focused on agriculture is a plus.
The candidate should also have experience working on projects that target small and medium enterprises in the Global South and/or the Caribbean
Experience working in Haiti is an asset.
