World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks a Chief of Party, India Conservation and Landscape Management Project.
Responsibilities
Description: WWF is seeking candidates for a Chief of Party (COP) for a USG-funded proposal on conservation and landscape management in India. This 5-year program, anticipated to start in early 2023, aims to improve management of protected areas and their corridors for wildlife conservation, improve inclusive livelihoods from ecosystem services, and strengthen conditions for institutionalizing landscape conservation in Central India and the Sundarbans.
The COP will provide vision, leadership, planning and coordination for the project, and will serve as the primary representative of the project, coordinating with the funding agency, as well as other partners, stakeholders, and Government of India counterparts, and other relevant projects/ initiatives.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience managing landscapes, biodiversity conservation, community engagement, and/or natural resource management projects
- 5+ years of experience managing and implementing multi-million-dollar bilateral publicly funded projects, or other similar donor-funded natural resource/international development projects
- Demonstrated effectiveness leading and managing large teams to achieve measurable project results, including under dynamic or challenging circumstances
- Proven ability to serve as the public representative of a large-scale regional program, including leading high-level meetings and events, building relationships with partners, and navigating complicated and sensitive issues across a wide range of stakeholders
- Excellent written and oral skills communication and fluency in English
- Professional degree in natural resources management, wildlife conservation, regional planning, development studies, political science, economics, public policy, law, or relevant field is preferred
- Significant work experience in India, particularly work in partnership with the Government of India and/or work in the Central Indian Landscape, is preferred.
