POSITION PURPOSE:
The Program Manager will be responsible for growing One Tree Planted impact and presence across the Caribbean and Central America. We are looking for a talented Program Manager willing to maintain existing partner relationships and oversee reforestation investments while positioning the organization for greater impact through new strategic partnerships, identifying funding opportunities, building projects, managing implementation partners, and ensuring verified measures of success. We are looking for a versatile leader who works well with remote teams, has a good understanding of the conservation and reforestation needs of the region, and someone who has the skill set necessary to grow OTP’s impact around nature and people.
Reporting Relationships
● Reports to our Regional Director, Latin America & the Caribbean
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
- Work with the Chief Programs Officer, and regional and global teams to develop the regional strategy necessary to grow OTP’s impact and presence in Central America and the Caribbean.
- Identify strategic opportunities, and build relationships with core implementation partners, funders, and strategic partnerships throughout the region necessary to position OTP and grow resources.
- Contribute to funder relations and proposal development including providing technical project/program details.
- Serve as a point of contact for the region, including communicating with existing and prospective donors and leading the occasional donor trip.
- Identify strategic projects and implementation partners throughout the region that are in alignment with OTP’s global strategy.
- Organize, review, and advise on new projects regionally and globally, including evaluation of project design, budget, co-financing, timeline, projected impacts, monitoring protocols, and carbon sequestration potential.
- Maintain and strengthen partner relationships, monitor project progress, and ensure OTP standards are followed.
- Oversee the administration of existing projects including preparation of contracts/agreements and facilitating payments.
- Ensure project information is accurate and up to date in our project management and CRM platforms.
- Conduct project field visits to assess performance, verify impact, and build OTP knowledge.
- Ensure timely project updates and reports to donors including photos, communication updates, and building larger landscape context and impact associated with the investments.
- Support communications and marketing teams to collect media assets necessary to deliver compelling communications that engage and grow audiences.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in environment, conservation, agroforestry, or related fields (master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of regional forestry or environmental project development and management experience.
- Fluent in both Spanish and English language, both written and oral (Portuguese a plus).
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Comfortable speaking in public.
- Fundraising experience – working with large foundations or bi and multi-lateral agencies would be a bonus.
- Self-starter happy to work remotely.
- Environmental monitoring experience is a plus – drone, GIS, and other tools.
- Strong analytical skills and proactive attitude to identify improvement opportunities
- Knowledge of Carbon project development is a plus.
- Proficiency in project management software, CRM platforms, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Passion for environmental conservation and sustainability.
IDEAL LOCATION: Miami, Mexico, Panama – Other Central American countries considered
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
COMPENSATION: typical starting range is $60,000 to $65,000 USD which will be based on skills and
experience.
