Program/Department Overview
EDF’s Global Climate Cooperation team leads and executes EDF’s work on international climate policy and carbon pricing. The team’s objective is to promote ambitious, well-designed market-based climate policies around the world, including at international forums like the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Our staff members undertake original research and publish in peer-reviewed journals; participate in and regularly give presentations to international negotiators, representing EDF and broader NGO coalitions; and develop and present advocacy materials in a wide range of other settings, including international meetings, Congress, etc.
Overall Function
The Intern will support EDF’s work around carbon pricing and carbon markets, particularly the voluntary carbon market. The Intern will provide analytical and operational support to ongoing projects, including the formation of EDF’s strategic goals and EDF’s participation in external initiatives related to carbon pricing. The Intern will produce analysis and written outputs for both internal and external audiences.

Qualifications
Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Masters degree program in Economics, International Environmental Policy, Environmental Management, or related field.
Demonstrated passion for and commitment to addressing the climate crisis, and interest in policy, advocacy, economics and/or the use of market-based solutions to environmental problems.
Basic familiarity with Microsoft Teams/SharePoint, Slack, Asana, Monday.com, or other collaborative software tools.
Excellent data management and/or quantitative skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to juggle multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently, navigate uncertainty, and proactively seek guidance when needed.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly to translate technical concepts and issues into lay language.
Demonstrate self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Compensation
This internship would involve compensation for work paid at a rate competitive with leading non-profits at $20/hour.
