Job Summary:
WRI China is committed to facilitate and accelerate low-carbon and climate resilient development in China towards achieving carbon emissions peaking before 2030 and carbon neutrality before 2060. As part of our climate and energy strategy, we are developing analytical models and undertaking policy analysis to support national, subnational, and business stakeholders to accelerate low-carbon transitions.
In line with the above works, we are seeking a Research Analyst to support our research, engagement, and communications. You will work with our in-house and external specialists to conduct research on national carbon neutrality pathways, non-CO2 abatement policies and technologies, and other thematic topics.
We offer a flexible environment for you to contribute and grow together with our teams on any of the above areas of priority.
You will have opportunities to work WRI’s global network of expertise to deliver our outcomes in China and to share our experience with our global networks across the continents. You will be based in Beijing with frequent domestic travels and occasional international travels (currently there is international travel restriction due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
Major Responsibilities
What you will need:
You hold a master’s degree in climate policy, energy, environmental economics, industrial economics, or other related fields.
You hold knowledge and experience relevant to the methane related fields is a plus.
If you have 1-5 years of relevant work experience in China so much the better.
Excellent research and analytical skills with trackable record on publication.
It would be nice to have a strong interest in performing rigorous quantitative analysis.
Excellent command of written and spoken Chinese and English.
Strong team spirit with excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with staff and external stakeholders at all levels, and flexibility to work across different time zones.
Willingness and ability to travel.
