Summary of Position
In this newly created position, the Campaign Communications Director will strengthen the Solidarity Center’s work on one of our organizational priorities—maximizing strategic impact for workers through campaigns. This position, housed within the growing Communications Department, will work closely with the Campaigns Director, Regional Program Directors, Country Program Directors, and the Trade Union Strengthening, Strategic Research, and Rule of Law departments. In collaboration with these colleagues, the Campaign Communications Director will develop and implement effective communications strategies for comprehensive worker rights campaigns, often across multiple countries and regions, to gain greater voice and create sustainable union structures to advance economic and social justice.
The Campaigns Communications Director will work under the leadership of the Executive Communications Director in close coordination with Communications colleagues in the U.S. and abroad and the Program Coordination department. The Campaign Communications Director will build a campaign communications team, coordinating closely with the organization’s Communications department, with dedicated support from the Media Relations and Digital Strategy Officers. In collaboration with Solidarity Center’s campaign team, field offices, and thematic departments, the Campaign Communications Director will be responsible for the development and execution of communications strategies for global, integrated, creative campaigns designed to win economic justice, strengthen democracy, and support union activists and leaders who are persecuted for asserting their rights. Some of these campaigns will focus on advancing a broad social justice objective, such as eradicating gender-based violence or elevating the status of the care economy and its workers.
