Salary: AU$ 90,000 – AU$ 100,000 per annum pro rata, depending on level of experience

Flexible working: We offer a fully flexible working environment, with access to a shared workspace in the CBD

Annual leave: 25 days of annual leave per annum, plus 3 additional days over Christmas

Location: Melbourne

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join our non-profit organization in Australia (Melbourne). Common Purpose a non-profit working with purpose to develop leaders who can cross cultural, institutional, and social boundaries, all so that people can work better together despite our differences. Over 75,000 professional staff and almost 40,000 students across the globe have participated on our programs.

We work with over 100 universities globally each year, including Harvard University, King’s College London, National University of Singapore, University of Sydney and RMIT University. We support our university partners by equipping their students with the skills, mindsets and global outlook to shape and lead in the future.

The Business Development Manager will work independently, with support from colleagues locally and globally, and will be responsible for growing Common Purpose’s business in Australia, with a deep focus on universities, both new business and managing existing university partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the Managing Director for Asia Pacific to establish a refreshed plan for Australia universities business development
  • Securing new business with a diverse range of existing and new university partners in Australia by building relationships at a senior level, both drawing on your own networks and using existing networks to reach the right people
  • Developing a strong understanding of the Common Purpose student experience offerings, as well as the development opportunities for staff within universities
  • Effectively managing and nurturing existing relationships and partnerships
  • Meeting income generation targets, by building a pipeline of opportunities and converting those to revenue
  • Creating innovative solutions for universities through meetings, written proposals and contracts
  • Positioning Common Purpose strongly in the Higher Education sector in Australia by using your sector knowledge and participating in relevant Higher Education conferences and events
  • In addition, building our networks within the private sector to support our university and wider work within Common Purpose

Requirements

  • Understanding of the higher education sector, whether from working for a university or providing a service to universities in Australia
  • Experience of working in an income-generating business development role
  • Experience building relationships across all levels of seniority in an institution or organisation and creating solutions centred on the key issues those leaders face
  • Working in a remote/dispersed role
