The Role: Xylem seeks a global Automation & Robotics Subject Matter Expert. The individual will bring experience in the technical problem-solving field of advanced automation and robotics, with vast knowledge in implementing solutions in industrial manufacturing and distribution environments. The individual will coordinate with the business units to identify the most valuable use cases, develop solid business cases and actively participate in the rapid deployment and scaling of the solutions.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
- Partner with Manufacturing Excellence and Operations teams to define, design and execute robotic & automation requirements and solutions for new and existing processes in both manufacturing and distribution environments.
- Conduct, develop and maintain a global robotics and automation gap assessment and develop and deploy a capability realization roadmap which delivers EHS, sustainability, quality, cost, speed, and utilization benefits for the organization.
- Develop solid business cases to facilitate stakeholders gate rating
- Identify the most valuable use cases across the global Xylem Operations to be developed as turnkey “Solution Platform offer”
- Identify the best partners to help Xylem in rapidly and efficiently scale up solutions, synergizing in cost and know-how
- Create standards and playbook to ease the implementation, to rapidly share know-how, leveraging best practices and fostering smart standardization
- Foster internal/external benchmarks to generate new valuable ideas
- Create a Xylem Community of Practice/CoE concept around Automation and Robotics fostering continuous innovation on latest cutting-edge solutions and ensure knowledge sharing across the organization
- Manage preferred Vendors & Partners (OEM and integrators) relationship, working with Procurement team
- Create and maintain an application/solutions inventory
- Experience with machine control, process equipment, and HMI/SCADA
- Experience partnering connectivity to IOT & MES solutions
- Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
- BSc & MSc in Robotics Technology, Automation/Mechatronic Engineering or a related field
- 7+ years’ business experience in global/international company, covering roles in Automation/ Industrial Engineering/ Manufacturing Excellence departments, as well as technical roles in major Robotics & Automation OEM/integrators
- Solid IT/OT understanding in term of system integration such as PLC technology, HMI/ SCADA/ MES interfaces
- Proven track record of implementation projects around: industrial robots, cobots, AMR/AGV
- Robot programming experience
- Design for robotics experience is a plus
- Hands on experience working on the shop floor with engineers, technicians and operators on automation and robotics projects
- Any Advanced Manufacturing & I4.0 related certification
- GB / BB certification is a plus
- PMP certification is a plus
