Xylem have an exciting opportunity Reporting directly to the Engineering and Design Manager, the Automation and Commissioning Engineer is responsible for the PLC programming, bench simulation, site testing and commissioning and technical support to ensure smooth execution of the automation and commissioning aspects of treatment projects.

Key accountabilities:

• Prepare Functional Descriptions in conjunction with Process Design Engineer
• Develop PLC and HMI programming code for automation of water and wastewater treatment equipment and systems, including but not limited to UV, Ozone, Blower, Aeration, Pump Station, and end to end treatment process.
• Produce engineering documentation including interface list, control logics, alarm list, bench test procedure and report, site test & commissioning procedure and report.
• Site execution of PLC/HMI programming and instrumentation setup on existing and new implementations of treatment systems.
• Provides technical training for End Users and Xylem Service Technicians
• Prepare handover to Xylem Service Technicians and support them on aftermarket activates if required.
• Typical projects include standard package plant and turnkey water and wastewater treatment plants incorporating Xylem’s comprehensive product range. Project values typically range from $50K to $3million.

Skills and experience:

• Automation and control engineering background with hands-on site commissioning experience

• Experience in the water and wastewater industry.

• Multiple PLC programming software required – Rockwell, Siemens, Omron, and Schneider. Familiar with all IEC 61131-3 programming languages, especially:

• Ladder Logic

• Structured Text

• Instruction List

• Network configuration – Profibus, Profinet, Modbus TCP, Ethernet IP.

• Instrumentation setup up and calibration procedures.

• Must be able to read electrical schematics.

• The ability to travel approximately 40% of your time to local and remote interstate customer sites.
