About the opportunity

SWCA is seeking a Associate Project Manager for our growing New Mexico/Four Corners portfolio.  We are looking for a motivated, self-directed environmental professional focused on environmental permitting and compliance services in New Mexico with the opportunity to diversify into other sectors. If you are looking for an opportunity to manage and write technical sections for permitting projects, help develop proposals for new and existing clients, and become a key player in one of our fastest growing business lines, then this could be the position for you.

The position will be a full-time, regular (with benefits) salaried position based out of our Albuquerque or Carlsbad offices, though remote employees within the state of New Mexico or the Four Corners area will be seriously considered.

What you will accomplish

• Help write proposals and help develop new clients to bring in additional business
• Manage smaller environmental permitting, environmental field survey, and construction compliance projects for oil and gas clients.
• Provide managerial support for environmental staff including mentorship.
• Manage the permitting of projects including agency negotiations, Endangered Species Act consultation, National Historic Preservation Act coordination, Clean Water Act permitting, etc.
• Write major technical sections of environmental permitting projects.
• Ensure overall performance and accuracy of documents prepared for environmental services in accordance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other guidelines as applicable.
• Oversee the preparation of biological assessments, cultural resources reports, and other environmental documents.

Experience and qualifications for success

Required

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Archaeology, Environmental Sciences, Geology or a related field required.
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in environmental services
• A minimum of 3 years managing the permitting, environmental consulting, compliance (inspection, erosion/sedimentation controls, SPCC plans, etc.), FERC review process, or NEPA documentation for oil and/or gas upstream and midstream (pipelines) projects.
• Advanced knowledge of and ability to apply environmental compliance and permitting regulations of applicable regulatory agencies that include FERC, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and New Mexico State Lands Office (SLO).
• Knowledge of project planning and development related to environmental projects and the Oil and Gas industry
• Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondences, and other written materials

Highly Preferred

• Knowledge of document development related to the requests for proposals and providing scopes and fees.
• Knowledge of computer applications and functions, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including advanced technical writing abilities.
• Ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships both externally and internally.
• Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
