ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Associate Director of Philanthropy (Individual Giving) will lead our Planned, Midlevel and Annual giving portfolio and team, contributing specialized knowledge to these areas of philanthropy and developing and executing fundraising strategies. These strategies will increase revenue for Ecojustice by moving individual donors into a more committed relationship with Ecojustice and acquiring gifts that translate their philanthropy into meaningful legal, environmental protection.

As a leader on our Philanthropy team you will:

  • Create, implement, and evaluate strategies to maximize revenue and retention of donors giving $5K-$10K per year

  • Lead strategies to sustain and grow the number of individual donors, the size of individual donations, and the conversion of annual donors to midlevel and planned giving portfolios

  • Lead recruitment, training, and development of Individual Giving team members including hiring, terminations, and performance management with a positive team culture

  • Ensure Individual Giving team members conduct their work in accordance with

    • values of justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and advancing reconciliation
    • Imagine Canada, the Association of Fundraising Professionals standards
    • Ecojustice’s Fundraising Code of Conduct
  • Model meaningful and authentic relationship management through interactions with donors, including at events and in response to complex donor inquiries

  • In collaboration with the Philanthropy Team, set annual goals, revenue and expense budgets for the Individual Giving Program and develop an annual work plan

ROLE SUCESS

Typically, we find that people who succeed in this role bring:

  • A minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience, with a demonstrated track record of success in various individual giving sectors (planned, midlevel, annual)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills; organizes work strategically, communicates expectations clearly, inspires and motivates colleagues toward stated goals, has confidence in their abilities and is respectful of team members
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office and donor databases and online giving platforms (such as Raiser’s Edge, HubSpot, FundraiseUp, iWave, etc.), prospecting systems, processes, analysis, reports, and metrics
  • Precision and systems orientation, diligently creating and maintaining files, and data integrity both electronically and paper
  • In depth understanding of ethical and Imagine Canada Fundraising principles and CRA guidelines, Charitable Tax Law
  • Exceptional relationship building skills establishing and cultivating strong and positive relationships with individuals internally and externally
  • Sound financial acumen with the ability to develop, manage and report on complex budgets
  • Problem solving and the ability to handle difficult situations with a positive attitude, actively seeking problem resolution, creative solutions, and organizational enhancements
  • Commitment to inclusive fundraising practices with consideration of justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and reconciliation.
