About the opportunity
SWCA Environmental Consultants is expanding our team and looking for an Assistant Staff Restoration Ecologist. This position will work on all aspects of our grant-funded restoration projects from early pursuit stages to coordination on active projects throughout the country. This will involve a combination of research into grant opportunities and their requirements, proposal development, and direct work on high-profile restoration projects. This position will also provide support to SWCA’s Environmental Engineering group by tracking relevant opportunities, managing licensure for professional engineers, and conducting field work. Applicants should have exceptional writing skills, and an interest in ecological restoration, business development, and federal and state policy.
What you will accomplish
- Hands-on experience with business development efforts related to grant development and proposal-writing.
- A background in Federal and State Policy research and how it applies to SWCA’s business model.
- An introduction to various components of environmental consulting with an emphasis on grant funded projects.
- Experience in data collection & data management for reporting.
- Preliminary and conceptual project development support.
- An introduction to business strategy and marketing.
- Experience working on a variety of ecological restoration projects.
- Logistical coordination for environmental engineering (restoration) field projects.
Experience and qualifications for success
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a related environmental field.
- At least two months of related experience in an environmental consulting environment.
- Prior experience with grant writing.
- Proficient in MS Office products.
- Experience using excel to manage data.
- Exceptional writing skills.
Preferred
- Familiarity with grant funding announcements (NOFOs, RFPs, RFQs, etc) and grant mechanics like matching funds.
- Experience in natural resources, and/or ecological restoration.
- Experience with grant management software (i.e., EasyGrants, grants.gov)
- Experience with the National Council for Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) online licensing software.
- Experience preparing and submitting professional engineering applications to state-level boards.
