Assistant Manager , Youth Engagement and Development

Principal Functions and Purpose of the position:

This position is a key member of the Education Department to support and lead the community engagement programmes especially with youth groups and co-ordinate youth empowerment projects.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Manager, Community Education & Development to manage all youth engagement, development and empowerment projects/initiatives in accordance with KPIs, goals and objectives of WWF-Hong Kong One Planet Education Programme, with an aim to create a new generation of conservation and sustainability advocates;

  • Work closely with all WWF educators to connect our community to nature through various educational and awareness raising activities;

  • Develop and coordinate youth projects which in turn contribute to conservation works of WWF-Hong Kong including but not limited to Wetlands, Oceans and Wildlife.

  • Lead WWF educators to work with other teams to encourage involvement of youth in various aspects across the organization;

  • Identify and develop activities with partner organisations, both local and global, to support specific organization’s initiatives with conservation messages, and be aligned to the community education objectives;

  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Education and Manager, Community Education & Development.

Required Functional Skills:

  • Degree holder in Education, Ecology, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Geography, Social Science or any discipline related to sustainability and/or nature conservation;
  • Minimum 4 years relevant working experience in organizing and leading outdoor activities, education or vocational training programme development for youth, teaching experience related to nature conservation or appreciation, or education projects planning and implementation;
  • Proficiency in computer software: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Zoom and will be given training on Sharepoint, Bamboo HRIS and SPSS;
  • Physically fit to guide outdoor learning programmes and work in adverse weather conditions; willing to work on weekends and public holidays;
  • Nature interpretation, first aid, swimming and diving skills would be of added benefit.
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.

Required Behavioural Skills:

  • Good interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills, ability to work with people of all levels;
  • Independent and initiative, detail-minded, highly organized and can handle multi tasks, positive thinking and a mature personality;
  • Good project management skills and able to work under pressure with tight timelines.
