OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

Title: Android Lead Engineer - Offline first Mobile Applications

Employment: Full time contract with probation period

Start Date: June 2023

Location: Flexible, ideally Bangalore or Manila

Reporting to: Director of Product & Engineering

Job Description:

Our company is seeking an experienced Android Lead Engineer with a minimum of 8 years of experience in building offline-first mobile applications. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of Android architecture and design principles, and experience in guiding a team of developers in the implementation of these principles.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development of offline-first mobile applications for the Android platform
• Work with the product team to identify and prioritize features for the application
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the Android development team
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Android architecture and design patterns
• Design and implement features to ensure application performance and stability
• Ensure that code adheres to best practices and coding standards
• Identify and resolve technical issues and bugs
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the team's continuous improvement
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including backend developers, UX/UI designers, and QA engineers, to ensure successful delivery of the product
• Keep up-to-date with new technologies, frameworks, and industry trends to improve application development

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
• 8+ years of experience in Android application development, with a strong emphasis on offline-first mobile applications
• Experience in guiding a team of developers on architecture and implementation of offline-first mobile applications
• Strong understanding of Android architecture and design principles
• Knowledge of Android SDK, Java, Kotlin, and other programming languages
• Experience with database technologies such as MongoDB, SQLite, Realm, or Room
• Experience with RESTful APIs and JSON
• Experience with version control systems such as Git
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, Agile development environment
• Team management and leadership experience + fluency in Kannada will be considered favorably
