The Role: Assist with the sales and use tax organization in the United States and Canada, which consists of internal and external resources.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
- Responsible for timely and accurate compliance with state and local tax laws while providing excellent internal customer service to our field and corporate operations.
- Review sales and use tax returns prepared by outside service provider.
- Prepare account reconciliations and substantiate account balances and adjust as needed.
- Maintain and update sales tax return worksheets and procedures.
- Respond to sales tax inquiries raised by customers and taxing jurisdictions
- Ability to work with individuals in the Indirect tax group and others in the organizations to gather data needed to support audits
- Ensure indirect tax payment, reporting and compliance obligations are satisfied
- Willingness to develop ideas to improve sales and use tax processes when possible
- Establish methods and procedures to assess, quantify and manage sales and use tax audits
- Participate in tax dispute resolutions
- Coordinate activities with manager and other co-workers
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
- College degree required
- 5 to 7 years multi-state sales and use tax compliance experience required
- Experience with Vertex O Series sales tax software and Exemption Certificate Manager
- Experience in sales and use taxes including including audit defense
