Energy & Environment, one of Ricardo plc’s five operating business units, is a leader in sustainability consultancy, solving complex environmental challenges through industry-leading analysis, advice and data. As we expand, we are looking for an Analyst Consultant to support a range of exciting and innovative projects within our Environmental Policy team. The Environmental Policy team at Ricardo works with governmental and private sector organisations on the development, implementation and evaluation of environmental policies, strategies and plans. Our clients operate at the heart of environmental policymaking and need impartial evidence. Our objective technical expertise and robust economics generate high-quality analysis that stands up to scrutiny. We deliver this specialism across several environmental policy thematic areas, including air quality policy, chemicals policy, industrial pollution policy, green finance, nature-based solutions and natural capital. The diverse team comprises around 30 people from 12 nationalities, with backgrounds in natural & social sciences, economics and engineering.
Role Purpose
We are seeking a recent graduate or early years professional. This role will provide the perfect first step into a consultancy career in the exciting and rapidly evolving field of environmental regulation. As an Analyst Consultant, you will support the delivery of research and analysis projects, managing your time across several projects. From day one, you will be part of a team supporting senior colleagues in delivering a portfolio of high-profile projects to clients. Specific tasks are likely to include reviewing literature, gathering and analysing data, contributing to reports and presentations that are delivered to clients, and to proposals for new projects. The role will include support across all the above-mentioned thematic areas.
Required competencies, experience, skills and behaviours
Desirable competencies, experience, skills and behaviours
Fluency in Spanish or other European languages.
Data science capability, including knowledge of Python.
Experience in environmental consultancy, Government, academic research or think-tank.
Understanding of some of the following:
Policy cycle (ex-ante impact assessment of policies and regulations, policy development and implementation, ex-post evaluation of policies and programmes)
Tools and methods used in policymaking: stakeholder consultation, survey design and execution; market analyses; cost-benefit analysis; data collection, validation and analysis.
