Remuneration: 2,700-3,100USD/month (this amount will be prorated to 80% time commitment)

Role
The Advocacy Officer will work closely with the Strategic Partnerships Director and others to help develop and implement CLEAR Global’s advocacy and partnerships program, in order to reach core stakeholders with our vision of helping people get vital information and be heard, whatever language they speak.
The Advocacy Officer is a member of the Strategic Partnerships team, which seeks to expand CLEAR Global’s influence, programmatic impact and income in particular by building strategic partnerships with bilateral and multilateral organizations. The overall goal of the influencing program is to translate our mission into action by ensuring that our mission, learning and advocacy informs all our external engagement and helps catalyze change across the social impact sector.
Reporting to the Strategic Partnerships Director, the Advocacy Officer will work closely with the program, tech, communications and language services teams to deliver on these goals. The Advocacy Officer will help to distill and communicate CLEAR Global’s aims, learning and thinking through appropriate publications, events and conversations, and to ensure that they inform communication and partner engagement across the organization. The postholder will coordinate and support general, thematic and geographically focused advocacy, making the best use of the organization’s network and proposing effective influencing strategies.
Responsibilities:
Work with the Strategic Partnerships and program teams to develop and execute a global advocacy strategy that serves CLEAR Global’s vision and builds on learning from our programs and research.
Work with program and subject matter specialists to formulate key advocacy objectives, messages and targets for humanitarian and development action.
Contribute to developing advocacy and communications materials that can support change in the lives of speakers of marginalized languages and others experiencing language exclusion, in collaboration with the Communications team.
Support program teams where needed to communicate their learning and research findings in ways that support our advocacy efforts.
Lead on producing a regular cycle of communication with partners and advocacy targets drawn from program information to raise the profile of the organization and its aims, learning and achievements; coordinating with Communications, Language Services and program teams on content and dissemination as part of a rolling program of external communications.
Contribute to developing communication and fundraising content that reflects CLEAR Global’s aims, learning and thinking and projects an image of the organization as expert, innovative, principled and delivering change through partnerships geared to shifting the power balance in the aid sector.
Help to provide capacity building and communication support to other teams for partner engagement informed by the organization’s aims, learning and achievements.
Support the Strategic Partnerships Director and internal subject matter specialists to maintain a strategic overview of issues affecting language in humanitarian and development discussions and debates, monitoring trends, maintaining a directory of relevant publications, and inputting to organizational strategy and planning processes, in coordination with other team members.
In tandem with the Strategic Partnerships Director and other team members, participate as needed in relevant global coordination meetings in support of global advocacy aims.
Represent CLEAR Global in advocacy forums, including coordinating with other NGOs, UN, donors and government officials. Proactively network to continually inform, challenge and improve advocacy messaging and plans, developing and investing in relationships and attending meetings.
Monitor electronic and social media for mentions of CLEAR Global and other topics of interest to the organization, and inform the leadership team. Undertake public speaking and media work when needed.
Proactively seek opportunities to further CLEAR Global’s messaging. Document progress and contribute to organizational learning.
